FOGG Theatre is partnering with Dijon Bowden and his extraordinary photoblog “Souls of San Francisco.” “Souls of San Francisco” is a storytelling project that utilizes street photography and short interviews to connect the community. The people and stories in Dijon’s blog will be featured in our, “What’s Your Story Bay Area” benefit concert. All songs composed for this concert will be based on Bay Area people that Dijon has photographed and that are featured on, “Souls of San Francisco.” We sat down with Dijon for a Q&A about what inspires him.
Q: What inspires you to tell stories?
A: I’m inspired to tell stories because as humans that’s how we communicate and pass down information. It’s how we remember and also how we shape our future. The future is made by the thoughts and energy of today. Therefor when I ask people to share their stories I ask them about things that put their attention and energy on positivity. I really enjoy focusing on one person at a time because by narrowing our focus we’re able to understand the infinite by breaking it into digestible parts.
Q: What is your story?
A: My story is the same as everyone else’s, I incarnated on Earth with a specific set of gifts to use in the service of the healing the planet. I’m doing my part to move our species from an egoic mind centered way of thinking to a unity consciousness heart centered way of being.
Q: When have you been most satisfied in your life?
A: Right now, it’s the only moment there is.
Q: Who are some of your heroes?
A: My heroes are Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, 2Pac, John Lennon, Bob Marley, my mother, Lauryn Hill, Jesus, Mei-Ling Murray, Katharina Stenbeck, Kara Allen, and every other human being I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the present moment with.
Q: What is next for you?
A: The next step for Souls of San Francisco is moving beyond the bay area to the whole world. Souls of San Francisco is becoming Souls of Society. The world is so interconnected now and I would like to get as many perspectives on how to move forward as a species as possible from as many cultures as possible. There’s so much to see, learn about, and experience in this world. I want to do it all…and share the experience with everyone! To that end I have a Patreon page where you can support the expansion of this vision if it resonates with you
